A self-guided tour is the promise of an adventure designed for you, by you, supported by our 40 years of expertise. It's the freedom to set your own schedule each day. You decide when to start walking or pedaling, where to linger for a picnic with local flavors, or which detour to take to an intriguing viewpoint. Freed from the constraints of a group, you travel with your trusted companions, sharing a unique and personal experience. Grand Angle acts as your discreet travel partner, ensuring a seamless journey so you can focus on what truly matters: the experience.
Simplicity and peace of mind are at the heart of our approach. Once you've chosen your destination, we take care of all the organizational details. We book handpicked accommodations, arrange for your luggage to be transferred between stops, and provide you with a comprehensive travel kit. This kit includes detailed maps, a precise roadbook with cultural and practical information, and often GPX tracks for your GPS or smartphone. Each day, you set off with a light pack, knowing that your main luggage will be waiting for you at your next cozy stopover.
For lovers of walking, our hiking tours offer an intimate discovery of Europe's most beautiful regions. From the sun-drenched trails of the Greek Cyclades to the majestic peaks of the Dolomites, our itineraries are designed to immerse you in spectacular nature. Whether you are tempted by an iconic trek like the Tour du Mont Blanc or the coastal paths of the Cinque Terre, you walk with the assurance of a perfectly organized trip.
If the gentle hum of wheels on a country lane is your idea of happiness, our self-guided bike tours are for you. Cycle along the historic Danube River, explore the vineyards of Burgundy, or pedal through the charming landscapes of Tuscany. We select routes on quiet roads and dedicated bike paths, ensuring both safety and pleasure. With options for all levels, from family-friendly rides along the Loire Valley to more challenging routes in the mountains, freedom is just a pedal stroke away.
Certain destinations lend themselves perfectly to the spirit of self-guided travel, offering a rich tapestry of landscapes and cultures to explore at your own pace.
Choosing the right trip is key to a successful experience. Consider the time of year: spring and autumn often offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds for destinations in Southern Europe. Assess your physical condition honestly and check the difficulty level indicated for each trip. Don't hesitate to contact our experts; they will be happy to guide you to the itinerary that best suits your desires and abilities. Before you leave, be sure to consult our packing lists for a day hike or a multi-day bike trip.
Travelers who appreciate the freedom of our self-guided trips sometimes opt for a guided tour to benefit from the insights of an expert guide on a specific theme. If you enjoyed hiking in Austria, you might also like our cycling trips in Austria to discover the country from a different perspective. Likewise, a passion for the trails of Madeira could lead you to explore the hiking routes of mainland Portugal. The adventure possibilities are endless, and our team is here to help you build a travel experience that reflects you.

— The trip was amazing. The views, the Ocean, the excellent GPS links and the cities we visited. For us it was the first time doing a bike trip by the ocean and we loved it. (This is our 15th consecutive year traveling with bikes). We mostly dealt with Mathias, he was all along very kind, responsive and professional.

— An unforgettable trip with breathtaking scenery—both literally and figuratively. We were a group of four; hiking together for 10 days was a rewarding experience, with challenging moments, but we felt proud after accomplishing each day’s goal. From our starting point in Les Houches, through the Col du Tricot, the Col du Bonhomme, and the Col de la Seigne, the panoramic view from the Elisabetta refuge, the Swiss valleys, Lake Champex, the summit of the Fenêtre d’Arpette, the Col de Forclaz, Lac Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi, and the Mer de Glace during our stop in Chamonix... All these places are no longer just experiences we’ve seen in videos made by other hikers. In terms of organization, a big thank you to Grand Angle. Everything went smoothly without a hitch (hotel reservations, luggage transfers). The welcome at the accommodations was wonderful, and the level of comfort was excellent at most of them as well. In conclusion, this is a trip and experience you shouldn’t miss if you love mountain hiking and have the opportunity. A minimum level of physical fitness is required. For us, it was more challenging than expected compared to what you see in online videos, but we have no regrets. It’s truly worth it.

— Brilliant trip and great value for money
Michel 19/07/2026
— A wide variety of hikes with numerous “high-mountain” panoramic views: glaciers, peaks. A rest day in Courmayeur (Day 4) allows you to take the Skyway up to Pointe Helbronner to admire the most beautiful view of the week: Mont Blanc, Aiguille du Midi, Vallée Blanche, the glacier and Aiguille du Géant, Grandes Jorasses… The package we chose—“all-inclusive” with hotel stays—was highly appreciated, and the “Bouton d’Or” hotel in Courmayeur earned a 5-star rating. The weather was perfect, except for the first day when a hailstorm caught us at the Col du Tricot with some unsettling flashes of lightning; the sun quickly returned. In short, a magnificent trip that poses no difficulties for those who hike regularly.
